Position Summary

The Student Marketing Ambassador serves as a contributing member of the MarCom team and supports the goals and activities of UW Housing & Food Services through collaboration with team members. Work will include  

 

This opportunity is ideal for students with an interest in marketing, writing, journalism, communications, branding, and/or business. Students will receive authentic experience in a professional environment, including direction and feedback from the MarCom team.

 

Responsibilities

Represent Housing & Food Services as a peer leader and advocate for the on-campus student experience.

Create high-quality photo and video content for use on HFS social media channels.

Highlight and promote campus housing and dining resources through events, digital platforms, and peer outreach.

Appear on-camera in the capacity of a “host.”

Drive student engagement both online (social media, digital campaigns) and offline (events, community activities).

Gather and share student feedback to help improve housing and dining programs.

Collaborate with HFS staff and fellow ambassadors to strengthen community connections across residence halls and dining facilities.

Serve as a visible, approachable resource for fellow residents and students.

Publish content in a timely manner to HFS digital vchannels.

Qualifications  

Current UW-Seattle student with an interest in communications, marketing and social media.  

Excellent writing, speaking and interpersonal skills.

Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines and exercise good judgment in a dynamic environment.

Ability to represent HFS professionally and to communicate comfortably with students, faculty and staff while working.

Ability to function independently and as a team member.

Flexibility and availability to work evenings/weekends as needed to capture events on campus.

A desire to learn, a strong passion for creativity, and a willingness to have fun.

Understanding and comfort with current and emerging social media channels

Able to authentically represent HFS within their own community, events and through an online presence on HFS media.

Enthusiastic about sharing HFS resources, events and opportunities with fellow Huskies.

Reliable, approachable and excited to create a welcoming, inclusive space on campus.

 

Collaboration Responsibilities  

This position will work closely with the entire Marketing & Communications team, including other student employees, and will receive direction from a Creative Content Producer.  

 

Position Complexities  

This position will work 0.5–5 hours per week and will work to meet project goals and subsequent deadlines. Additional duties may be assigned for special events that occur within or outside a regular work schedule.

 

Working Conditions

The work is performed in an open office setting with noise and other distractions, as well as various indoor and outdoor locations on the UW campus.

This position may travel on foot or by vehicle to campus locations with a camera.

This position does not maintain regular office hours at the outset. The work hours will be determined by consultation with the Manager to accommodate the student’s class schedule.

 

Compensation  

$20.76 per hour

 

Work Schedule  

Up to 5 hours per week

Fall quarter 2025 (with option to extend)
