Assistant/Section Grower
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant/Section Grower to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in horticulture and agriculture, with hands-on experience in greenhouse operations. This role will assist the Head Grower by maintaining a portion of the overall greenhouse production, which includes the growing, care, and maintenance of primary crops. These crops include spring annuals, vegetables, perennials, lilies, fall mums, and poinsettias.
Major Responsibilities
- Monitor growing conditions and make suggestions for changes to environmental conditions to ensure optimal crop performance.
- Monitor plant development to identify the existence of pests or disease and report or make suggestions for treating or removing substandard plants to maintain quality standards.
- Apply fertilizers and chemicals as directed by the grower and in accordance with all safety/regulatory standards.
- Ensure area is clean and in good upkeep. Correct or report deficiencies as necessary.
- Look to expand current knowledge of growing techniques and technologies.
- Other duties as assigned.

Experience
- 2-4 year degree in Horticulture or related field or 2-4 years of growing experience, or an equivalent combination.
- Knowledge of the safe handling and application of chemicals is a plus
- The ability to speak Spanish as a primary or secondary language is a plus.
Other/Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in conditions typically found in a greenhouse with high humidity and varying temperatures. Ability to be on feet while performing job responsibilities.
- Ability to lift 15-50 pounds occasionally.
- Be able to obtain and maintain a valid Wisconsin pesticide handler certification.
- This position requires a 40+ hour work week and requires weekend work during peak seasons and as otherwise necessary.
