Job Purpose:
We are looking for highly professional, dependable, and service-oriented medical assistants to join our team. This is an ideal opportunity for undergrads to work closely with doctors and get hands-on clinical experience before going to medical school, PA school, or nursing.
Responsibilities:
- Arrange and prepare exam rooms for incoming patients – organizing instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Escort patients to the examination room and prepare them for the physician.
- Obtain medical information and measure patient vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse rate, weight, height, etc., and document for patient's chart.
- Execute blood draws, EKGs, urine collections, etc., and document for patient’s chart.
- Optimize patient satisfaction by being attentive and demonstrating a warm and caring attitude towards patients.
- Prepare lab specimens, dispose of contaminated supplies, and sterilize medical instruments.
- Authorize prescription drug refills as directed by physician and call-in prescriptions to pharmacies.
- Complete prior authorization requirements for medical procedures.
- Maintain the highest levels of patient confidentiality.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and management.
- Ensure a healthy environment by establishing and following standards and procedures in line with legal regulations.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree; medical assistant certification a plus.
- CPR Certified.
Required skills and experience:
- Strong customer service skills.
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced medical environment.
- Knowledge of medical coding procedures.
- Knowledge of medications and injection procedures.
- Ability to work well under stress and remain patient-focused.
- Strong team player.
- Highly dependable.
- Knowledge of electronic medical records and other medical software systems.
