Communications And Design Intern

The Communications & Design Intern will work closely with Wallace’s Engagement Team to support photography, storytelling, social media, and event communications. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in nonprofit communications, healthcare storytelling, and community engagement.

Location: Wallace Medical Concern – Gresham, OR
Schedule: 8–12 hours/week, onsite 2 days per week
Term: Winter/Spring 2026 (with potential to extend)

About Wallace

Wallace Medical Concern is a nonprofit community health center serving East Multnomah County and Gresham. Our mission is to partner with our community to make good health possible for all. We believe in respect, compassion, trust, community, and health equity.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture photos and stories from Wallace’s clinics, staff, and community events.
  • Support the development of social media content (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Assist with layout and design for digital and print materials, including newsletters and flyers.
  • Help maintain website content and update event or news sections.
  • Attend community events to document and share Wallace’s participation.
  • Collaborate with staff across departments to collect content and stories that reflect Wallace’s mission and impact.

Qualifications

  • Current college student or recent graduate studying Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Design, Public Health, or related field.
  • Strong writing and visual storytelling skills.
  • Experience with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
  • Interest in healthcare, equity, or community-based work.
  • Availability to work onsite at least 2 days per week.
