Lower Elementary Counselor

Lower Elementary School Counselor 

Start Date: July 2026 (SY2026-27) 

Reports to: Elementary Principal 

Job Summary: Provides counseling services to ICS elementary students. Through group and individual sessions, students develop wise and acceptable social, emotional, organizational, and behavioral skills that promote their well-being and that are based on biblical principles.  

Essential Personal Specifications: 

● Is a committed born-again Christian, living a Christ-like life in both word and action 

● Attends a Bible believing church 

● Supports ICS’s foundational documents 

● Connects effectively with elementary students in a one-on-one or group setting while maintaining the proper role of a counselor. 

● Collaborates effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators. 

Qualifications and Experience:  

● Master's Degree in school counseling  

● Certification in counseling (preferred) 

● Experience in planning and leading parent sessions (preferred) 

● Experience as a school counselor 

● Demonstrated experience supporting students with diverse needs, including ADHD, executive functioning challenges, and behavioral concerns.

Responsibilities:  The counselor shall prayerfully guide students in acquiring attitudes, skills, knowledge, and concepts that promote their social, emotional, and behavioral development following ICS expectations, so that students will grow and achieve ICS’ Expected Schoolwide Learning Results.
