Internship: Special Events & Volunteers (Spring 2026)

Under the supervision of the Director, Special Events & Volunteers, this Internship will provide the candidate with hands-on learning experience on the development team with Children’s Hunger Alliance, a statewide 501c3 non-profit. The candidate will have the opportunity to assist with special event receptions and fundraisers, as well as corporate and community volunteer engagements. Over the course of the internship, the candidate will directly assist with agency fundraising activities and events and learn technologies like Raisers Edge and GiveSmart, that help Children’s Hunger Alliance connect with attendees/donors to raise more than half a million dollars annually in Event revenue. 

Spring 2026 -  March 2026- May 2026 (10-12 weeks)

Schedule: 8-12 hours a week. 4-hour time blocks, up to 3 days/week, semester long commitment. Open to discussing alternate schedules and will consider longer internships on a candidate-by-candidate basis.

      Desired Candidate Qualifications: 

  • Interest in nonprofit administration, special events, and/or hospitality management
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Resourcefulness, resilience, & creativity
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail
  • Google Drive proficiency
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of individuals
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn something new

Key Duties: Work breakdown percentage may vary depending on season or business needs

Special Event Support (50%)

  • Outreach to targeted companies/groups/individuals by email, in person, phone for silent auction participation
  • Attend event planning meetings to become familiar with event objectives and learn process of how a nonprofit of this size plans and executes multiple fundraising events.
  • Event Administration (RSVP and attendee tracking, assisting with preparations of event documents or supplies)
  • Onsite day-of for fundraising events as a key contact to assist Director, Special Events with nonprofit fundraising event execution. May include some/all of event set-up/program support/tear down/load out
  • Potential for research of event venues, event sponsorship prospects, or other event related requirements gathering
     

Volunteer Engagements Support (40%)

  • Learn how CHA conducts volunteer opportunities at the warehouse and mobile sites around the state
  • Assist (or lead) large groups of corporate or community members at warehouse or mobile sites around the state.

No overnights required. Driver’s license may be required.

Other duties as assigned (10%)
