The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is a federally chartered, nonpartisan institution that was created by the US Congress to serve as America’s national memorial to the victims of the Holocaust and an educational institution dedicated to the history and lessons of the Holocaust. The Museum seeks to educate Americans from all 50 states and all walks of life as well as international audiences. The Museum has three areas of expertise: Holocaust remembrance, Holocaust scholarship and education, and genocide prevention.

Title:  Campus Outreach Intern

Session Dates: January 26, 2026 - May 15, 2026

Job Type: Paid Internship

Hourly Rate of Pay: $17.95

Work Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid)

Work Schedule: 20 hours per week

Information about the Office/Division:

As part of the Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies, Campus Outreach Programs advances the vital field of study by promoting an interdisciplinary approach to Holocaust Studies throughout North America by focusing on underserved faculty and universities. Campus Outreach Programs do this by promoting an interdisciplinary approach to Holocaust Studies.

We accomplish this by supporting faculty and institutions through unique programs, lectures, roundtables, seminars, and digital resources. This internship is an exciting opportunity to join the Campus Outreach team as we grow and continue our Holocaust Studies programs on campuses throughout North America.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic college student who is involved in campus organizations and interested in helping shape campus conversations. Candidates should be passionate about how Holocaust Studies can be critical to the college curriculum and campus activities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The intern will work closely with Campus Outreach Programs’ staff to research and design program content, identify potential partners and institutions, create advertising, take meeting notes, transcribe previously recorded programs, and enter data.

This is a hybrid internship opportunity in which the intern is expected to work at the Museum two days per week.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA, BS, or Associate's degree (in progress or completed in the last 2 years).
  • Strong project management skills and research skills.
  • Experience with or interest in Holocaust Studies in the college setting.
  • Collegial spirit and experience working on a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Some background in Holocaust Studies preferred.

Experience organizing campus events (in-person and /or virtual)

  • Experience organizing a research project or environmental scan.

To be eligible to participate in the Internship Program, students must meet the following enrollment criteria: 

  • The student must be 18 years or older currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university
  • The student must have completed at least the first semester of their freshman year (At least at the time of application)
  • Provide proof of legal right to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must reside in the United States for the full duration of the internship program
  • Must complete their background check while physically present in the United States

Interviews for the Spring 2026 internship program will begin in November 2025; for advanced applicants. Final selection decisions will be made by December 12, 2025, and all candidates will be notified of their status via email by Human Resources.
