Ranch Internship

Deseret Ranches is seeking hardworking students for immersive ranch Internships at operations located across the United States. Gain real-world knowledge and practical skills by working side-by-side with our experienced team. You’ll learn from the best while contributing to the daily success of our ranch. Internships are offered during spring, summer and fall. 

2026 Internships are offered at the following offices:

Deseret Cattle & Citrus - St. Cloud, FL

Deseret Cattle & Timber - Wewahitchka, FL

Deseret Land & Livestock - Woodruff, UT

Elberta Valley Ag - Elberta, Utah

Sooner Cattle Company - Pawhuska, OK

Sheridan – Sheridan, Wyoming

 

Navasota – Navasota, Texas

 

 

Responsibilities:
 

 

  • Participate in seasonal cattle operations: calving, branding, breeding, weaning, and shipping.
  • Assist with livestock care (doctoring, feeding, health monitoring) and support herd rotations, fencing, and water systems.
  • Perform general ranch maintenance, including fence repair, equipment checks, and facility upkeep.
  • Attend planning meetings, contribute to daily crew operations, and actively engage in learning opportunities.
  • Gain exposure to finance, wildlife, and other departments that support ranch success.
  • Learn and follow ranch values, SOPs, and safety protocols while promoting a best-in-class safety culture.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

 

  • Available for a 3–4 month internship starting in January, May, or August.
  • Prior cattle and horseback experience preferred; strong interest in production agriculture required.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed coursework in Animal Science, Agricultural Business, Range Management, Equine Studies, or related field.
  • Experience through FFA, 4-H, or family farm/ranch work is a plus.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the internship site; relocation stipend provided (daily transport is intern’s responsibility).
  • Completion bonus eligibility based on fulfilling internship requirements and maintaining clean living quarters.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks: lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, climbing, walking or riding for extended periods, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Willingness to perform standard animal husbandry procedures (e.g., castration, vaccinations, branding) and work variable schedules including weekends and holidays.
