Program Manager at Private Education Firm
Capital Educators is the premier test-preparation company in the Washington metropolitan area. We are seeking a Program Director to join our bright and talented team.
We are looking for candidates who are ambitious, charismatic, well-organized, and articulate. Candidates must also possess excellent leadership skills and the potential to become an exceptional teacher. Ideal candidates have achieved top SAT/ACT scores.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing an 8-week SAT/ACT program each season
- Teaching small group classes
- Marketing and selling our courses
- Communicating with clients by phone and email
- Hiring, training, and supervising part-time instructors
- Preparing lessons and developing new curricula
- Performing administrative office work to support our programs
The majority of CapEd alumni ultimately pursue careers in the two broad areas of Education and Business. Many use this position as a stepping stone to graduate school. In recent years, our former directors have received PhD and Masters degrees from Yale (Management), Duke (Psychology), University of Pennsylvania (Law), Berkeley (Public Policy), and NYU (History). Several have moved on to become business leaders, full-time teachers, and education executives.
Starting salary is $70,000. Directors have autonomy and are well compensated with significant, periodic raises. While no experience is necessary, past tutoring or teaching experience is a plus. Virtually all of our work is conducted in our collaborative office with in-person teaching at our sites.
