Roadway/Traffic Design Engineering Intern

ELEMENT Engineering Group is currently seeking a motivated Design/Engineering Student Intern to join our team! As an intern, you will play a role in supporting the preparation and execution of diverse traffic and roadway engineering projects. This opportunity is perfect for someone eager to apply their knowledge across diverse projects while developing hands-on skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Design/Engineering Student Intern will be required to:

  • Provide support to professional engineers and technical staff across traffic and roadway services 
  • Complete field reviews and collect data to support preparation of plans and traffic studies through use of professional judgment to identify data needed for design and items identified through Road Safety Audit prompt lists
  • Utilize existing conditions data to design and prepare plans under the responsible charge of a senior professional engineer or project manager
  • Assist with preparation of concept plans, feasibility reports, traffic analysis studies. plans, and specifications
  • Support production of signing, pavement marking, signalization and lighting plans for a variety of clients
  •  Familiarize themselves with Florida Department of Transportation systems, policies, and procedures and apply those to work products

Required Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
  • Working knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks and problem solve.
  • Working experience with Microsoft Office software.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work for any employer in the United States.
