The department comprises six divisions: Data Processing, Document Management, Mail Service, Duplication & Printing, Mapping & Graphics, and Communications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides technical assistance over the phone by diagnosing and troubleshooting various information technology-related issues, including printer, desktop, and laptop hardware, commercial software, custom applications, and networking-related problems. Directs and schedules the work of others and evaluates existing systems and/or users’ needs to analyze, design, recommend, and implement system changes. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Documents, tracks, and monitors the issue to ensure a timely resolution.
  • Supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots hardware and software.
  • Responsible for supplies, printers, copier functionality, and hardware backups.
  • Provides end-user support for all LAN-based applications.
  • Installs and configures workstations.
  • Maintains, documents, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals.
  • Researches and resolves technical issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Performs all related work as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, business, public relations, or a closely related field and two years’ experience in an information technology environment or any equivalent combination of education and experience that meets the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Knowledge: Good knowledge of operating systems such as Microsoft Windows. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of HTTP or FTP to assist users with downloading issues. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within IT.
  • Skills: Skilled in giving detailed and understandable instructions.
  • Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and outside vendors and suppliers. Ability to effectively communicate orally. Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions. Ability to follow or give verbal and written instructions. Ability to respond to firehouses to assist with computer issues.
  • Licenses: Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
