Location: Rainbow Gardens, Northfield, Vermont
Schedule: 9:00am-2:00pm Monday-Friday; 25-30 hours per week
Compensation: Based on experience and qualifications; starting at $30/hour
Employment Term: August through June (includes 6 paid holidays; school breaks are unpaid)
About Rainbow Gardens
Rainbow Gardens is a Waldorf early childhood center dedicated to providing a nurturing, imaginative, and developmentally appropriate environment for young children. Our program fosters a deep connection to nature, rhythm, and community life, and is a critical resource to over 30 families in Northfield and surrounding communities.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills, work ethic, and a humble and flexible team-first mentality to own the core operational duties at Rainbow Gardens. From finance, billing, and payroll, to compliance, managing facilities, fundraising, and enrollment, this role is essential to the school running smoothly and financially responsibly.
Key Responsibilities
Handle payroll, bill pay, and bookkeeping in Quickbooks
Ensure facilities are safe, maintained, and meeting budget goals, while coordinating and managing vendors to support
Oversee and manage enrollment, from marketing to application processing, ensuring that all classroom spaces are filled for the following year
Oversee and own annual fundraising drives, as well as identifying and pursuing relevant grant opportunities
Ensure core support plans are robust, in-place, and clearly communicated, with clear ownership (e.g. support plan for staff substitutions)
Collaborate with teachers and staff to process teacher requests for classrooms and facilities
Work with the Board of Directors to set the budget and annual fundraising goals, as well as school policies and procedures
Qualifications & Requirements
Highly dependable, professional, transparent, and honest
Strong communication and organizational skills
Experience with Quickbooks and bookkeeping
Reliability and flexibility in responding to changing administrative needs
Excellent judgement in managing multiple projects and tasks: detail oriented and perfectionist when it matters, while always able to manage task and project completion to meet deadlines
Comfort with hands-on tasks, including facility tasks as needed
Experience with fundraising, development, and grant-writing preferred but not required
Alignment with Waldorf education values is a plus, though prior experience is not required

School-year schedule with three unpaid breaks (holiday break, mid-winter break, and spring break)
