The Equipment and Transportation Assistant will play a critical support role in managing and maintaining the City’s vehicles and equipment, ensuring smooth and efficient operations for our services. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Equipment and Transportation Assistant maintains the Citywide scheduling for two 44-passenger buses and operates bus as needed. Assesses and maintains inventory of supplies in stock and prepares reports to replenish stock as needed. Performs routine and complex administrative work in planning, organizing, coordinating, and administering a variety of special community, cultural, or other special events programs. Handles complaints from various City departments regarding equipment. This individual reports to the Superintendent of Maintenance and work is performed under his/her direction or designated supervisor. Additional responsibilities include:
• Prepares inventory and monitors the distribution of recreation supplies for various park sites, recreational programs, and all summer recreational programs.
• Responsible for meeting maintenance schedule for all Parks maintenance vehicles.
• Operates department bus and van when scheduled and acts as mail courier for department.
• Maintains all safety and cleaning supplies for park maintenance, William Hicks Anderson Community Center, and recreation.
• Responsible for receiving and storing department equipment and supplies.
• Supervise seasonal employees and volunteers, as assigned.
• Responsible for securing chairs, tables, sound, and other equipment as requested for special events throughout the City.
• Maintains and tracks the use of recreational supplies and equipment for special events through the city.
• Coordinates department activities with other departments and agencies as needed.
• Sets and administers training schedules for all new equipment for park maintenance.
• Assists with fleet services and Public Works to order proper equipment that is requested in the annual budget review.
• Provides transportation during extreme heat/cold, transporting to cooling stations/code blue locations provided by the city and partners.
• Oversees special projects as needed assigned.
• Clears snow from crosswalks and all other areas in and around the parks.
• Work is performed in early morning, late evening, and weekends as required.
• Drop-off and pick-up equipment and vehicles repaired by vendors.
• Performs all related work as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or possession of GED; experience in the transportation of passengers and equipment
• Knowledge: Working knowledge of computer applications and ability to adapt to current programming used by the Maintenance Division. Knowledge of FMCSR.
• Skills: Must be able to drive a 44-passenger bus. Knowledge of operation of ADA buses.
• Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the public. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, vendors, contractors, participants, and the general public. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Licenses: Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. CDL Class B driver’s license required with passenger endorsement and with a minimum of 6 months experience driving passenger buses. CDL Class A driver’s license, preferred.
