School Recruitment Caller
The Tri-Ethnic Center (TEC) for Prevention Research is hiring an individual for Fall 2025 and Spring Semester 2026 to recruit American Indian reservation-area schools across the country to participate in the Our Youth, Our Future study of American Indian youth substance use.
The job’s main responsibility is: To use telephone and email contacts to obtain the principals’ (or school superintendents’) agreement to participate in this study.
- We will provide you with a list of schools and contact information.
- We will send (or have sent) out a letter to each school prior to your phone calls. They will also have received an email.
- We will provide you with a general script and calling instructions.
- We will provide training to you and have materials available as a resource for questions about the survey. Upon training, you will begin calling immediately.
- We will provide access to a recruitment management tool
As a Tri-Ethnic Center (TEC) for Prevention Research recruiter, you represent the study to school personnel and school district officials. Your effectiveness on the phone and your attention to detail can directly influence the percentage of schools that accept our invitation and the number of students within each school who actually participate. Of course, many other factors also affect these response rates, but the caller's role is essential.
Required skills:
- Excellent verbal and listening communications skills.
- Strong commitment to cultural sensitivity.
- Comfortable making cold-calls and willingness to be persistent in making contacts
- Consistent availability during the school semester to make calls.
