Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducts and documents frequent safety audits of all jobsites and facilities; provides guidance in response to all identified deficiencies and requests for safety assistance.
- Promotes and assists manager in the management of, all safety program elements
- Resolves safety issues that may arise from employees, managers, subcontractors, and clients.
- Prepares reports, conducts safety briefings, and acts as the company spokesperson for all safety related issues. Researches and answers all safety related questions and concerns.
- Develops and implements safety program elements as needed to comply with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Works in collaboration with Human Resources for injury case management.
- Performs comprehensive investigations for all injury and loss incidents. Identifies contributing factors such as root cause and develops and implements measures to prevent recurrence.
- Conducts safety trainings of employees, testing, and record keeping for all program elements.
- Creates Toolbox Talks on a weekly basis or as needed.
- Conducts safety orientation for all new hires and distributes PPE.
- Maintains all safety tracking documentation (ex: Training, Incident/Accident/Near Misses).
- Coordinates with management and customers to ensure all safety requirements are identified and communicated to employees.
- Administer online safety platform.
- Attends professional safety training, seminars, and conferences.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Required Qualifications
- Completed 2 years towards Occupational Health & Safety Degree
- Knowledge of general industry and construction safety regulations
- Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards as well as Workers Compensation and claims management.
- Ability to work under pressure, stay organized, and keep to a schedule
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience in public speaking
- Ability to use critical thinking and problem solving
- Ability to multi-task
- Proficient computer skills in MS Excel, Word, Outlook
- Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10- or 30-Hour Construction Certificate
- Completion of OSHA 500 Trainer Course
- Experience in a construction related field
- CPR-First Aid Certification
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
Physical demands within this position include but are not limited to frequent standing, sitting, walking, listening, focusing, and using depth perception, working in different weather conditions, lifting up to 20+ pounds, using office equipment and the use of hands to handle or touch objects/controls. Local travel to various worksites is required. Long periods of time spent on the computer, typing, using the telephone, stooping, bending, reaching above shoulders, and walking on uneven surfaces at job sites is required. The position requires Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use such as safety glasses, vest, hard hat, ear plugs, and safety shoes when needed.
