Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator

Position Overview
Ilmor Marine is seeking a detail-oriented Purchasing Coordinator to support our manufacturing plant and e-commerce operations. This hands-on role will manage day-to-day purchasing activities, maintain accurate inventory records, and ensure materials and products flow smoothly throughout the plant. The Purchasing Coordinator will be on their feet and engaged with inventory daily, working closely with production, warehouse, and e-commerce teams to meet company needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute purchasing activities to support both manufacturing and e-commerce operations.
  • Place, track, and follow up on purchase orders with vendors and suppliers.
  • Maintain inventory levels, perform cycle counts, and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Partner with production and warehouse teams to ensure materials are available for scheduled builds and shipments.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve delivery or quality issues.
  • Receive, inspect, and organize incoming shipments to maintain an orderly inventory system.
  • Support cost-control initiatives through vendor negotiation and alternative sourcing.
  • Collaborate with accounting to ensure accurate invoice and purchase order matching.
  • Provide general buyer support for plant operations and special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Previous internship experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory, or supply chain coordination (manufacturing environment preferred).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with internal engine parts and/or electric motor components
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working on their feet with hands-on involvement in inventory.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (experience with manufacturing ERP software a plus).
  • High attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business or similar

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  •  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  •  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. The employee is frequently required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, use tools or controls, and climb or balance.  The employee is occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel, crouch, crawl, and talk or hear.
  •  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and explosives. 
  •  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  However, some instances of this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary.
