Deputy Director of Economic Opportunity

The Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO) is seeking a Deputy Director to join our team! Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will have a direct impact in shaping Economic Development efforts for the state, including overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day functions and strategic mission of the Governor's Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO). This position will oversee outward facing efforts for recruitment. This includes supporting state economic planning and investment efforts, tracking and analyzing economic development, coordinating with stakeholders, and optimizing efficiencies and workflows within the agency. A critical component of this role will be proactive business development, focusing on cultivating relationships with key stakeholders, attracting investment, and securing public and private funding to expand the reach and impact of economic opportunity initiatives.

 

Principal Duties

Oversee day-to-day efforts to carry out the strategic mission of the organization

Represent the Executive Director and the agency with internal and external stakeholders

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, private sector leaders, economic development organizations, and community partners.

Monitor and analyze market trends, economic indicators, and competitor activities to inform business development strategies and identify emerging opportunities

Negotiate and facilitate agreements with potential partners and investors, ensuring alignment with GOEO's mission and objectives.

Reviews and evaluates organizational effectiveness, goal determination, and strategic planning, etc., and makes recommendations for improvement.

Monitors agency or program budget including revenues, expenditures and budget projection, etc.

Supervise and collaborate with GOEO staff

 

Ideal Candidate

Robust leadership and communication skills. 

The ability to multi-task and delegate at a high level.

Strong private sector experience with a track record of success and operational excellence. 

Knowledge of business development and agency management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, communications strategies, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. 

Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
