Who is We Are One Body® Audio Theatre? We Are One Body® Audio Theatre is a regional Catholic theatre that offers a place for individuals to come and create for the Lord, using their imagination, creativity, and God given talents. WAOB® Audio Theatre welcomes volunteers of all ages and skill sets to take part in its productions: writers of scripts, stories, and poems; voice actors; artists; musical composers; foley artists; sound designers; audio editors; etc. Our staff not only helps manage the creation of productions, but is also here to provide guidance for those who wish to grow in a particular skill set. The final productions are made available to the public via We Are One Body® Audio Theatre’s website, its social media platforms, and via various podcast platforms. We invite you to be a part of helping us to create productions that our volunteers will enjoy being a part of, that our audience will enjoy listening to, that will spark the imagination of all who participate, and that will inspire all to grow in their spiritual journey with the Lord.
 

Writer, Editor and Director - Written Summary


We Are One Body® Audio Theatre seeks an individual who desires to be an integral part of creating wholesome and inspiring productions that encourage each listener to use their imagination. He or she will fill the role of Writer, Editor, and Director for WAOB® Audio Theatre productions. As the Writer and Editor, this individual will be required to write scripts, and stories to be used in We Are One Body® Audio Theatre productions, while at the same time being responsible for editing the scripts and stories that are submitted by the We Are One Body® Audio Theatre volunteers. As the Director, they would first be responsible for assisting the Producer with the casting of volunteers for each production. Second, they would be responsible for helping each actor, whether amateur or professional, to achieve the best performance that they are capable of. Third, they would be responsible for working with the WAOB® Audio Theatre team during the post-production process. The ideal candidate would have a passion for serving the Lord through their work here at WAOB® Audio Theatre, and would thrive working in a team environment, with the Producer, Foley Artists, Sound Designers, Sound Engineers, and the amateur and professional volunteers.
 

Writer, Editor and Director – Job Responsibilities:
● To work with the We Are One Body® Audio Theatre staff and volunteers to brainstorm ideas for new productions.
● To write scripts and stories to be performed by the We Are One Body® Audio Theatre volunteer actors.
● To adapt public domain stories and books from the Bible into scripts.
● To use your writing / editing skills to edit volunteer writers’ scripts, stories, and poems;
providing detailed suggestions for improvements to each writer in a friendly and encouraging manner.
● To vet scripts, stories, and poems for conformity with the We Are One Body® Audio Theatre’s goals and objectives.
● To work with the Producer, and Sound Design team during the script development and post-production process.
● To assist the Producer with the voice actor auditions and casting.
● To analyze the volunteer strengths and weaknesses, helping to maximize their talents, while being realistic in understanding and encouraging them in their limitations.
● To Direct the in-studio recording sessions and the live, public performances.
● To be able to teach writing and acting classes when needed.
● To schedule volunteers to come in and record, through email and or text.
● To assist with the posting, design and development of the We Are One Body® Audio Theatre’s social media platforms.
● To perform basic audio editing.
● To participate in other company duties, as required.
 

Writer, Editor and Director – Job Requirements:
● Must have a well-rounded understanding of the Catholic faith.
● Must have experience or advanced knowledge of the directing process within a theatrical environment.
● Must be able to write stories and or poems.
● Must be able to write audio theater scripts; with a good understanding of how to manage the characters, insert sound cues, and incorporate music.
● Must be willing to offer and accept constructive criticism within the We Are One Body® Audio Theatre team, including the volunteers.
● Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
● Must be gracious and tactful when dealing with volunteers and co-workers.
● Must be able to work with individuals of all ages.
● Must be able to work with individuals that have physical and/or mental disabilities, when the need arises.
● Must be able to use software like Canva for design of 'Casting Call' flyers and similar creations.
● Must be able to work evenings and weekends. We Are One Body® Audio Theatre must be available when its volunteers are.
 

Logistics & Benefits:
● Will be required to work from the We Are One Body® Audio Theatre studio in Latrobe, Pennsylvania
● Will occasionally be required to work off-site for live, public performances
