Teen Health Educator
About the organization: HealthCorps is a national non-profit organization working to ensure every child leads a healthy life by educating and empowering teens – encouraging them to become change agents within their families, schools, and neighborhoods. We know limited access to health education can lead to a lifetime of social, emotional, and physical challenges. HealthCorps’ programs strengthen teens with innovative approaches to health and wellness. We provide today’s youth with the tools to become more physically and mentally resilient through educational programming, leadership experience and service learning.
About the role: In support of the mission of HealthCorps, the Teen Health Educator will partner with assigned school(s) in Cleveland to establish health priorities and deliver HealthCorps’ wellness curriculum to students. You will be trained to effectively deliver our nationally established project-based curriculum to your group of students. You will plan and prepare materials for your weekly school sessions and facilitate the curriculum in-person at your school(s) and build trusting relationships with your students. You will collaborate and bond with fellow educators in our weekly team meetings. You will engage school, district, and community stakeholders that have a common goal of improving the health and wellness of the school and community. This is a hybrid, part-time role with an expectation of approximately 6-10 hours per week. In-person programming at your school(s) is generally 2-4 hours per week, while curriculum planning and team meetings occur virtually. You will engage in other events and activities related to the role throughout the school year, including regional health fairs, administrative tasks, and professional development opportunities.
Please Note: This hybrid, part-time position requires availability during middle school hours (9AM-3PM), at least one -- preferably two -- or more days per week. In most cases, this position requires your own personal transportation to commute to schools in and around Cleveland.
