Inventory Operations Intern

INVENTORY OPERATIONS INTERN  

Our Inventory Operations project is a long-term strategic initiative aimed at building a comprehensive physical and digital inventory for the organization.  

The Inventory Operations Intern is responsible for supporting this project and will focus on curating and implementing an inventory system for Dress for Success Seattle. Responsibilities may include choosing a plan and strategy for DFSS’s inventory, operationalizing the plan, and reevaluating the efficacy of our systems. 

*This role will be required to work a minimum of 12 hours/week at our office in Downtown Seattle Tuesday - Thursday between 11 am – 5 pm and may include attendance at community engagement events on off days, as needed*  

Term: Winter 2026 

Internship Goals: 

  • Contribute to the building of a physical and digital inventory 
  • Continue establishing a risk management/mitigation plan 
  • Help identify gaps within inventory  
  • Support the development of systems to ensure organization is fully stocked 

Responsibilities: 

  • Mission Focused: Support women and non-binary people on their path to economic independence 
  • Inventory Management: Help sort, curate, organize, and price donations; support efficient inventory tracking and alert staff of inventory needs.  
  • Operational Management: Ensure signage and operational materials are current and accurate; introduce new operational material as needed.  
  • Documentation: Update documents relating to inventory management including inventory lists and instructions for donation sorting days  
  • Learning: Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and other activities to gain a thorough understanding of program processes and best practices. 

Basic Requirements: 

  • Self-starter with the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively 
  • Attention to detail, effective communicator, and excellent organizational skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)  
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively 
  • Positive, proactive and ability to exercise great judgment and common sense  
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment  
  • Creative problem-solver  
  • Detailed planning, time management and organizational skills  
  • Strong verbal/written communication  
  • Ability to take initiative and manage projects with little supervision  
  • Ability to work a minimum of 12 hours per week on site and off site (in-person community engagement events) 
  • Must be able to work from our office in downtown Seattle on Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays between 11:00am-5:00pm  
  • Must be able to climb short ladders, lift heavy bags/boxes occasionally (20-40lbs) 

Compensation: 

$23/hour
