Our programs empower all girls to be gamechangers in their own lives and in their communities. We strive to serve girls year-round and over the long-term and offer a continuum of programs for girls at each stage in their development.
Position Summary
Girls in the Game seeks a driven professional to support the Development Manager to ensure that organizational goals are met for fundraising, marketing, and communications. The Events and Communications Coordinator will oversee the organization’s race team for the Chicago Marathon and coordinate additional partner events and cause marketing efforts. This position will coordinate organizational communications including social media, the website, e-blasts, and print communications and marketing related to special events. This position will also oversee volunteer groups and the organization’s Giving Tuesday campaign. The ideal candidate is someone who has the ability to handle multiple project deadlines and will seek innovative ways to grow Girls in the Game’s fundraising efforts. This position is ideal for somebody who is beginning their nonprofit career and is eager to learn about fundraising, communications, and special events.
Girls in the Game is seeking a full-time Events and Communications Coordinator to do the following:
Partner Events and Cause Marketing (30%)
Coordinate partner events and cause marketing efforts, partnering with local businesses, restaurants, running clubs, and corporations.
Attend networking, community outreach, and media events to promote Girls in the Game.
Charity Race Team (30%)
Coordinate teams for the Chicago Marathon, the Chicago Triathlon, and other partner races, recruiting approximately 50 participants a year.
Support team members with their fundraising efforts by hosting webinars and ensuring runners meet their fundraising goals.
Communications and Social Media Management (20%)
Coordinate organizational communications including a monthly communications calendar, e-blasts, quarterly newsletters, website updates, and email signatures.
Manage content that promotes Girls in the Game’s mission, brand, and voice across social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn).
Produce the Annual Report in collaboration with the Grants Coordinator.
Lead the organization’s Giving Tuesday campaign, drafting social media content and donor communications for the campaign.
Special Events Support – Field of Dreams Gala, Chip in for Girls Golf Outing, and Auxiliary Board Events (15%)
Create marketing materials for large events including program books, silent auction materials, social media graphics, and event signage.
Other Development Support (5%)
Assist with additional development projects on an as-needed basis.
Coordinate volunteer groups at one-time events and during our Summer Camp.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Available to work evenings and weekends for various scheduled events (flex time provided).
Interest in running or prior experience in organized races is a plus.
Access to a car helpful.
Strong writing and communication skills.
Ability to learn and use various technologies. Experience with Salesforce, Squarespace, and Mailchimp a plus.

Compensation
Salary is $45,000 annually with yearly reviews, opportunities for raises and advancement. Accountability
This position reports to the Development Manager.
