Spiritual Formation Intern

Title: Spiritual Formation Intern

Vision
Word Made Flesh Sierra Leone seeks to love, serve, and walk alongside vulnerable children, youth, and families in the Kroo Bay community while nurturing the spiritual life of the community. Through intentional relationships, prayer, and discipleship, WMF Sierra Leone fosters holistic transformation and demonstrates God’s presence in practical and relational ways.

Internship Summary and Responsibilities

Support pastoral care and spiritual guidance for children, youth, and staff through one-on-one mentorship, group discussions, and intentional relationship-building.

Lead or assist in prayer gatherings, devotional times, and community worship experiences.

Encourage discipleship and personal spiritual growth by modeling healthy spiritual practices and providing guidance to others.

Participate in daily community rhythms of prayer, meals, and reflection.

Qualifications and Experience

Currently studying for or graduated with a degree in theology, ministry, counseling, or a related field.

Motivated and responsible individual able to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines.

Experience in mentorship, spiritual guidance, or youth ministry preferred.

Committed to relational ministry and cross-cultural engagement in a community-focused environment.

Community Involvement
Interns will spend approximately 20 hours per week on:

Community prayer

Formation reading and discussion

Language acquisition

Intentional interaction and service among the vulnerable

Worksite Location: Freetown, Sierra Leone

Key Details

  • Application Deadline: Open until filled
    Length: 1–3 months, or a 1-year commitment (extension based on community compatibility)
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Support-Based: Interns raise financial support to cover salary and expenses.
  • Preparation and Support: Pre-departure formation with a Short-Term Program Coordinator and appointed to a local staff member; weekly language tutoring to equip interns for responsibilities
