International Business Intern

Title: International Business Intern

Vision

Internship Summary

Support the development of small business initiatives that provide sustainable income and reduce economic vulnerability in the community.

Conduct market research and financial analysis to identify opportunities for business growth.

Assist with creating and refining business plans that balance mission impact with economic sustainability.

Develop training tools to equip community members with practical business and job skills.

Participate in daily community rhythms of prayer, meals, and reflection.

Qualifications and Experience

Currently studying for or graduated with a degree in business, economics, marketing, international development, or a related field.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an interest in social enterprise.

Motivated and responsible individual able to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines.

Cross-cultural sensitivity and commitment to building relationships with and investing in the WMF Sierra Leone community.

Prior experience in entrepreneurship, business development, or social enterprise preferred.

Community Involvement
Interns will spend approx. 20 hrs a week on:

Community prayer

Formation reading and discussion

Language acquisition

Intentional interaction and service among the vulnerable

Worksite Location: Freetown, Sierra Leone

Key Details

  • Application Deadline: Open until filled
    Length: 1–3 months, or a 1-year commitment (extension based on community compatibility)
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Support-Based: Interns raise financial support to cover salary and expenses.
  • Preparation and Support: Pre-departure formation with a Short-Term Program Coordinator and appointed to a local staff member; weekly language tutoring to equip interns for responsibilities
