Project Engineer
The Scruggs Company, a Georgia construction leader and part of Construction Partners, Inc., has an opening for a Project Engineer in its Robinson Paving Company division, located in Columbus, Georgia. Primary function of a Project Engineer:
Assist Estimators, Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foremen in securing, managing, and scheduling for various types of construction projects.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Understand, support, and adhere to Robinson and Scruggs safety requirements; observe and correct violations as they arise on project sites
- Plan work and purchase materials with safety in mind
- Assist Project Manager with daily project duties
- Work with Estimators on daily estimating duties
- Perform takeoffs and work with subcontractors and vendors on pricing for bids
- Prepare and track all necessary submittals
- Obtain required material certifications
- Maintain project files, current drawings, and production records
- Assist the preparation and submittal of all documentation and records required for change orders
- Assist in the analysis of cost for extra work.
- Assist Project Manager in overall coordination of project including subcontractors
- Build and maintain positive subcontractor relationships
- Identify, pursue and recover fair compensation for changes in scope and optimize cash flow
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
- 4-year engineering degree, construction management degree, or a different degree with construction or manufacturing experience highly preferred
- General knowledge of computer software required, Excel expertise highly preferred
- Familiarity with HCSS products (HeavyJob and HeavyBid) or other construction systems highly preferred
- Experience with project planning, scheduling, and estimating preferred
- Ability to prepare subcontractor scopes of work
- Familiarity with pricing, purchasing, and preparation of purchase orders for materials and equipment
- Ability to read and understand drawings
