Job Title: Fundraising and Donor Relations Intern
Salary Information: $13.00/hour
Overview: IU Indianapolis University Library has an opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate IU Indianapolis student to contribute to the library’s External Relations Team (ERT). ERT focuses on creating opportunities for donors to support the work of University Library. Through special events, communication pieces, and campus/community engagement, ERT’s primary role is to serve as the fundraising unit of University Library.
The intern will primarily engage with library donors and will report to the Director of Development. This would be an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to learn more about fundraising, communication, or public relations in the nonprofit sector. Internship credit can be earned for this position if needed.
Position Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Director of Development to conduct a variety of donor relations activities, such as performing prospect and donor research, managing donor records/mailing lists, and coordinating mailings for fundraising, stewardship, and promotional purposes.
Help plan, staff, and execute special events, both on-campus and off-campus, including but not limited to:
receptions
outreach events
donor engagement opportunities
presentations
collection launches
exhibits
Indiana Libraries & Literacy Symposium
Support planning and execution of library Community Board meetings
Maintain organization of ERT storage (stationary, games, giveaways, decorations, etc.)
Assist with general office management, including coordinating meetings, maintaining electronic and paper files/records, as well as general reception duties.
Assist with the creation, proofreading and distribution of newsletters, letters, and communication pieces.
Assist in setting up/taking down displays/exhibits.
Creating and maintaining a list of named spaces in UL
Additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Current IU Indianapolis student
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Positive attitude and careful attention to detail
Flexibility and dependability
Ability to work well with a wide variety of people
Ability to work 2-15 hours a week (dependent on student’s class schedule but during normal business hours of Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm)
Microsoft office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to create digital communication pieces (e.g., flyers, graphics, or social media content) using Canva or comparable design platforms.
