Manufacturing Engineering Intern (Summer 2026)

Summary: 

The purpose of the Purchasing Intern is to gain applicable career experience in a growing organization. Throughout the internship, you will gain valuable, hands-on experience in several aspects of Supply Chain and Purchasing Operations.
What You'll Do:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Procure components to meet the demand while gaining an understanding of the current Inventory Management system, Epicor.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering on custom job requirements that require special purchased materials. 
  • Work with Shipping and Receiving to process purchase orders including any in-bound shipment discrepancies.
  • Evaluate safety stock levels and ordering perimeters to determine the best procurement option and place purchase orders for components needed in the production process.         
  • Build and manage supplier relations to facilitate the best efficiencies.
  • Expedite production parts with urgency on multiple immediate part needs.
  • Evaluate safety stock levels and upcoming demand on multiple types of production components.       
  • Coordinate pricing schedules with suppliers for materials ordered.             
  • Perform other related duties as requested.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree. Student involvement/work experience is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read, analyze and interpret the English language. 

REASONING ABILITY:   Can effectively handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment and is a self-starter with a strong work ethic, attention to detail and superior problem-solving skills

COMPUTER SKILLS:  Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other ERP software tools.

Internships are located on-site in Clare, Michigan.
