Position Title: Marketing, Social Media, and Website Design Intern
Duration: One semester (with possibility to extend)

United Way of Clarion County is a nonprofit dedicated to improving lives and building a stronger community by focusing on youth opportunity, financial stability, community health, and resiliency. We mobilize resources, volunteers, and partnerships to meet critical local needs and ensure that every neighbor has the opportunity to thrive.

This internship is supported by the McElhattan Grant Internship Program, which creates paid opportunities for students to gain meaningful, real-world experience with organizations in Clarion and Venango Counties, thanks to generous support from the McElhattan Foundation.

Position Overview:

The Marketing, Social Media, and Website Design Intern will support United Way’s communications and outreach efforts. This role will help increase community awareness of programs, strengthen our digital presence, and engage supporters through creative storytelling and online engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and schedule engaging content for United Way’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Assist in designing promotional materials such as flyers, graphics, and newsletters
  • Update and maintain website content using GoDaddy (or similar platforms)
  • Track and analyze social media performance to help inform strategies
  • Capture and edit photos/videos from community events for storytelling purposes
  • Support the planning and promotion of fundraising campaigns and events
  • Research marketing trends and provide creative input on outreach strategies

Qualifications:

  • Current PennWest student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Public Relations, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing practices

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Familiarity with website design/management (WordPress or similar)
  • Photography and video editing skills
  • Creative mindset with attention to detail
