Cloud Data Analyst

The City of Bowie is seeking a Cloud Data Analyst. The Cloud Data Analyst is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the City's cloud-based data architecture. This role involvesoverseeing the design and implementation of cloud data solutions, ensuring they meet performance, security, scalability, and cost-efficiency requirements. The Cloud Data Analyst works closely with various departments to understand theirdata needs and collaborates with IT teamsto build and maintain robust cloud data platforms. This position requires deep expertise in cloud technologies, data management, and architecture principles.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the design and architecture of cloud-based data solutions, including migrating existing internal Access databases to the cloud platform, ensuring data integrity, performance, and security during the migration process.
  • Oversee the management and optimization of cloud data platforms, ensuring

optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.

  • Ensure that cloud data solutions adhere to organizational security policiesand compliance requirements, implementing best practices for data protection.
  • Implement and managetools for monitoring the performance and reliability of cloud data systems, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Design and managedata integration workflowsto ensure seamlessdata flow between various cloud and on-premises systems.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of clouddata architectures, processes, and workflows.
  • Stay up to date with the latest cloud technologies and data management trends, recommending new solutions and improvements.

 

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computerscience, information technology, or a related field.
  • At least5 years of experience in data architecture or related roles, with a strong focus on cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in cloud platformssuch as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong understanding of data management, database design, and ETL processes.
  • Experience with data securitybest practices and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.


 

Preferred Skillsand Certifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data analytics platforms.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Relevant certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Data Engineer, or Google CloudProfessional Data Engineer.
  • Sense of Humor

 

SALARY$87,263 Annually
