Job Summary:
Kent State University’s Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement is seeking a highly motivated Graduate Assistant (GA) to join our communications team, focused on alumni engagement and philanthropy. The ideal candidate possesses web development acumen in technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL and has a passion for CRM systems, digital marketing, and digital analytics.
As a Graduate Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include building HTML emails for university clients (newsletters, events, one-offs) on a daily basis, using the Advancement project management ticketing system to communicate with project managers. You will also assist in building event pages (both ticketed and non-ticket) with conditional logic, as well as updating and modernizing reporting portals. Additionally, you will work with a leading CRM platform in higher education to design, develop, maintain, and analyze user portals.
Responsibilities:
- Build HTML emails for university clients (newsletters, events, one-offs) on a daily basis using the Advancement project management ticketing system to communicate with project managers.
- Build out event pages (both ticketed and non-ticket) with conditional logic.
- Develop and implement custom functionalities and features in the institutional CRM using JavaScript, HTML, CSS and CRM-specific Liquid Markup.
- Assist in updating and modernizing reporting portals.
- Develop custom reports and dashboards within the CRM for data visualization and performance monitoring.
- Participate in testing and QA processes, fixing bugs and resolving issues as they arise.
- Document development processes and create end-user guides and technical documentation as needed.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to ensure that Kent State maintains a modern and efficient CRM environment, and display adaptability in learning new technologies as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned, which may include building landing pages, email, analytics or other tasks.
Qualifications:
- Already enrolled in a graduate program in User-Experience Design, Computer Science, Information Systems, Emerging Technologies, Business Analytics, Communication Studies / a related field, or can demonstrate relevant work experience (if in an unrelated program).
- Proficiency in HTML and CSS.
- Familiarity with Javascript and other coding languages.
- Familiarity with CRM/CMS platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and multitasking skills.
- Experience in data analytics and reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development, with the capacity to learn and adapt to new technologies, including but not limited to CRM-specific Liquid Markup and SQL/custom queries.
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices, or willingness to learn best practices and implement standards across all channels
