Finance & Analytics Intern

Location: NYC, hyrid
Team: Compass Finance & Analytics – Bloomberg Account
 

About the Role

We’re seeking an intern to join the Compass Finance & Analytics team supporting our Bloomberg account. This role is designed for someone who enjoys working with financial data, can structure analyses to uncover insights, and wants to help drive smarter, faster business decisions. You will work closely with Operations and Clients, analyzing and driving results to achieve annual key performance indicators. As an intern on the team, you will play a critical supporting role in enabling this partnership through accurate, insightful, and actionable analytics.

If you’re familiar with or eager to learn excel and basic SQL skills, hard-working, and motivated by problem-solving, you’ll thrive in this role. 

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain models, reports, and dashboards to support budgeting, forecasting, and decision-making.
  • Use SQL and Excel to extract, clean, and transform large datasets into actionable insights.
  • Partner with finance, operations, and account management teams to prepare presentations and recommendations for client leadership.
  • Support ad-hoc analysis requests from internal stakeholders and the client.
  • Assist in improving reporting processes through automation and standardization.

What We’re Looking For

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Science, or related field
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, modeling); basic SQL knowledge for data querying; exposure to BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Analytical Strength: Ability to break down problems, analyze datasets, and draw clear, actionable conclusions.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills—you can distill data into insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Work Ethic: Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
