Position Summary 

  • Provides quality patient care by considering the age specific, development and cultural needs through competent clinical practice.  Demonstrates unit/area competencies.
  • Identifies and assists in resolution of problems related to safety, sanitation and maintenance of the environment.
  • Practices effective communication in all interactions (patient, visitor, co-worker, etc.)
  • Promotes a positive work environment by demonstrating teamwork.
  • Revise patient education materials as needed.
  • Catch up Monday on RD work deferred from the weekend (such as screen referrals for low risk assessments, nutrition education).
  • Coordinating ordering/maintaining office supplies through Food Service department secretary.
  • Comply with hospital requirements for staff ie, annual mandatory learning.
  • Provide education in services to other departments as needed.
  • Fulfill all requirements of clinical RD position, including but not limited to: nutrition screens, assessments of patients at nutritional risk, including age and development level, follow up on TPN or tube fed patients, tabulate calorie counts and perform nutrition education on nutrient-drug interactions.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary committees and task forces as assigned.

 

Education: 

 

Bachelor's degree in nutrition/dietetics or foods and. Masters degree in nutrition or related field preferred.

 

Completion of an approved hospital dietetic internship program or its equivalent is necessary.

Registration through the Commission on Dietetic Registration necessary

 

Registry Eligible- registry must be completed within 90 days of hire

Experience: 

Two or more years of progressively more responsible experience preferably in lifestyle change management

Licensure: 

 

Registered Dietitian or 

Registry eligible - registry must be completed within 90 days of hire

Member of the ADA.
