Fabric Research and Development Assistant

 

The Kasper Group, a leader in the apparel industry for over 30 years, is seeking a highly organized and creative Fabric Research and Development Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a passion for textiles. You will be a key player in bringing our creative vision to life, working closely with the Fabric Director, design, and production teams to facilitate the fabric production process from start to finish.

 

What You'll Do

 

  • Manage Artwork and Files: You'll gather and organize artwork files, create Illustrator boards for key accounts like MarMaxx and Ross, and assist in naming prints and labeling artwork files.
  • Coordinate with Mills & Factories: You'll create Encad and fabric charts, meticulously track due dates and deliveries, and communicate daily with mills and factories to follow up on all fabric needs.
  • Oversee Sample Management: You'll be responsible for ordering and tracking sample yardage for market, cutting fabric references and swatches for records and design boards, and assisting designers in pulling yardage for sample cutting.
  • Maintain Records & Archives: You will keep an updated binder of seasonal color palettes, assist the Director in finding archived artwork, and help organize fabric selections by mill and category.
  • Utilize Systems: You will assign SAP codes for all Special Markets brands including Jones NY, Ann Klein, and Kenneth Cole, and request and save FDS sheets from mills to the corporate shared folder.
  • General Organization: You'll keep the sample yardage area neat and orderly and maintain precise records of all fabric developments.

 

Who You Are

 

  • You are a dynamic multi-tasker with great time management skills.
  • You have a strong aesthetic and brand understanding, along with a background in woven and knit construction and development.
  • You possess a degree in Textile Design and have 1-2 years of experience in fabric sourcing and development (including relevant internships).
  • You have strong Adobe Illustrator skills and a working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Knowledge of PLM and Photoshop is preferred.

 

Salary Range: $50K-$65K *Actual base salary for this role within the above range will be based upon experience, qualifications and/or assigned unit.
