
Medical Physics Assistant I - Radiology
Job Description:
Works independently within the Department of Radiology, across the Mayo enterprise and as a consultant outside of Mayo, using scientific methods to provide technical support for medical imaging equipment and patient safety in imaging areas. Works closely with clinical staff, assisting with all technical aspects of medical imaging, performing quality control testing, evaluating and optimizing imaging protocols, and supporting imaging systems and databases. Directs and practices safety guidelines for themselves, staff and patients. Provides leadership, builds commitment, educates and trains personnel in the work area and generates feedback. Participates in professional educational activities. Assists Operations Managers and Directors with the preparation of equipment purchases and space requests as needed and directed. Involved with the technical aspects of safety, regulatory compliance and accreditation processes required to allow billing for departmental imaging procedures. Collects specific performance data and generates annual reports for Physicist’s signatures that are required for accreditation of imaging equipment. Supports and participates in innovation and change initiatives.

Qualifications:
Must have an Associate's degree in a related field. Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiography, Ultrasound, or Nuclear Medicine program. Employees hired before October 1, 2002, must meet current qualifications or have received a Technical Certificate or Bachelor's degree in a quality management, math, science, imaging, technical or related field.
Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred. Two years modality specific experience preferred. Two year recent radiographic and fluoroscopy experience preferred. Must be highly organized, efficient and multifunctional with the ability to work independently. Requires excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication to present and explain technical data to clinical personal. Travel to Mayo Clinic Health System sites to support Division of Community Radiology will be required. Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Incumbents with clinical education must maintain relevant certification/registry as listed: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (R.T.[R], R.T.[N], R.T.[T]); Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS); Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT).
