Position Overview

BMS Re has an opportunity for an Intern on our Catastrophe Analytics team.

In this role, you will:  

• Learn about Catastrophe Modeling and how it fits into the Insurance/Reinsurance Industry.
• Learn how to run catastrophe modelling software Verisk Touchstone and RMS Risk Modeler for client data and industry losses.
• Understand and explain model results, data quality issues and effects on results using Excel, SQL and Alteryx.
• Learn how to provide complete, clear documentation on project scope, assumptions, data edits, analyses completed, and results.
• Explore differences in catastrophe modelling outputs to provide insights. 
• Provide analysis of changes and variances in the modeled exposure due to exposure changes and model updates. 
• Update Cat Wiki as needed.
• Conduct post event analysis, “optimization” and other specialty analyses as needed.

Education, Experience and Skills:

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in risk management, data science, mathematics, finance, economics or other related areas.
• Must be a good communicator, detailed oriented, and work well independently.
• Have a strong work ethic that explores an array of solutions to solve problems.
• Work well in a team environment, with a willingness to help where needed. 
• Always looking to improve oneself and the team.
