
Front Desk Receptionist
The Front Desk Receptionist for JIFF has a responsibility that may affect the success of the organization: making a good first impression. As the receptionist you will answer the telephone, screen calls, greet visitors, respond to inquiries from the public, and provide information about the organization. Responsibilities include coordinating all incoming and outgoing mail. In addition, the receptionist contributes to the security of the organization by helping to monitor the access of visitors – a function that has become increasingly more important.
In addition, the Front Desk Receptionist will also assist with data entry and/or administrative duties as assigned by their supervisor. Applicant may be asked to complete a basic typing test and data entry test as part of the application screening process. In addition, JIFF completes criminal and sexual misconduct background checks on all new applicants prior to the start date.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Unlock the outer entrance doors upon arriving and lock before leaving for the day
- Answer telephone, screen and direct calls, document and route messages
- Deal with queries from the public, customers and callers
- Greet persons entering organization & direct persons to correct destination
- Ensures knowledge of staff movements in and out of organization
- Receive, sort and deliver mail to appropriate staff person, sign for deliveries
- Maintain the reception area and lobby
- General administrative and clerical duties that includes data entry
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her supervisor.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma generally required
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
- knowledge of computers and relevant software applications
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
- Keyboard skills that include typing 40 wpm (Word) and data entry in spreadsheets or data programs as assigned (Excel)
