Grant Research Intern

Position Title: Grant Research Intern 
Organization: Nonprofit Solutions Matter, Inc.
Location: Remote 
Duration: Fall 2025 

Hours: (flexible schedule, ideally spread over at least three weekdays)

Position Summary

Nonprofit Solutions Matter, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Grant Research Intern to join our team. In this role, you will identify and vet grant opportunities on behalf of our nonprofit clients, maintain an up-to-date tracking system, and deliver concise research summaries that set the stage for successful applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prospect Research:
    • Identify relevant government, foundation, and corporate grant opportunities aligned with client missions and programs.
    • Screen funding sources for eligibility criteria, deadlines, funding ranges, and application requirements.
  • Data Management & Tracking:
    • Maintain the Grant Tracking Template (see below), ensuring all fields are current.
    • Flag upcoming deadlines and alert supervisors at least three weeks in advance.
  • Research Summaries:
    • Prepare one-page briefs for each opportunity, including funder background, grant focus, past awards, and competitive landscape.
    • Highlight any special requirements (e.g., geographic restrictions, matching funds).
  • Collaboration & Reporting:
    • Attend weekly check-ins to review findings and adjust research priorities.
    • Assist with ad hoc data pulls and status updates for client reports.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (preferably in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Communications, English, or related fields).
  • Strong research and analytical skills; comfort with online databases (e.g., Foundation Directory, Grants.gov).
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs) or Microsoft Office.
