Intensive Family Specialist

We are hiring multiple people for this position. Base location in Kearney and/or Lexington areas.

DEFINITION:

Under the direction of the Therapeutic Services Lead the Intensive Family Specialist is responsible for serving children and families through teaching activities. The Intensive Family Specialist assists the youth or family navigate their case and to address the needs that are present in the home with the support and guidance of a Compass therapist.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Support, equip, and educate parents on how to effectively care for their children.

Work with the family as a unit to develop positive interactions, communication skills, family activities and appropriate family structure.

Assist parents in understanding and meeting the developmental needs of their children.

Equip families to build strong relationships, bonding and nurturing within their home.

Assist families by providing skills for maintaining a sanitary living environment, acquiring employment and housing, managing a budget and accessing community resources.

Complete all required services documentation and regular communication with the Children and Family Services Specialist (CFSS) and Family Team.

Attend and participate in team meetings and staff meetings to ensure program growth and excellence.

Participate with professionalism and excellence as part of the larger Family Team (legal team, caseworkers, therapists, school personnel, foster care, etc.) to meet the needs of children and families being served.

Communicate and meet regularly with the program supervisor to ensure excellence in service provision and to monitor case progress.

Work as a team member by providing assistance and support to other programs and staff within Compass as needed or directed, including filling in for other staff members and their cases.

Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related area is preferred.

An Associate's degree in a Human Services field + two years of experience in the field is required.

Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to manage a complex schedule.

The position demands a candidate with high energy and the capacity to meet changing demands and deadlines.

The Intensive Family Specialist must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.

Flexible hours will include evenings and weekends that are convenient to families and the needs of the program.

The Intensive Family Specialist must be able to work well with a team and build relationships and rapport in and outside the agency.
