Reading Interventionist City of Miami Beach
Start Date: between October 15 and November 15
Hourly rate: $18 per hour
A Reading Interventionist is an individual who specializes in identifying, assessing, and providing intensive, targeted instruction to students who are struggling to read at grade level. Contractors will work on-site during school hours.
The Contractor will provide reading intervention for students in grades K through 8 and will design reading instruction based on each student’s needs, following the reading course syllabus or similar, in order to foster and support early literacy skills.
Current enrollment in or completion of reading courses is encouraged, but not required for this position. College students majoring in education and/or English are encouraged to apply.

Job Responsibilities:
✓ use research-based skills they are learning in 200-300 level reading courses/education class (although these courses are not required)
✓ apply what is modeled and learned in the tutoring sessions
✓ pre and post assess using informal reading inventory instruments (BRI) or similar methods
✓ identify student reading areas of strength and student areas for growth
✓ communicate and work alongside professional certified teachers to support individual student who are identified as needing tutoring intervention
✓ use data driven methods to identify and apply appropriate interventions
✓ develop appropriate, targeted daily agendas and instructional plans (IPs)
✓ monitor and maintain youth progress data Additionally, interventionists will:
✓ have the opportunity to practice and develop skills in real time setting
✓ arrive on time, stay for duration of designated time frame, report to designated contact person
✓ always wear MDCPS contractor badge
✓ have access to course content and course forms (agenda/time frame & IP) and materials to use during intervention opportunity
✓ have opportunity to develop school/community/faculty/administration networks and professional liaisons
