Summary:
The Jr. Staff Accountant is an entry-level role responsible for all aspects of general ledger-related activities, such as proper application of US GAAP in handling and recording of accounting transactions, performing monthly close, periodic balance sheet account reconciliation and expense accruals. The position also supports in preparation of the company’s financial statements and making sure financial reporting deadlines are met. The Jr. Staff Accountant contributes to the financial activities of Weckerle USA organization by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
∙Responsible for maintaining the general ledger and performing bank reconciliations
∙Responsible for monthly closing reports
∙Assists the team with accounting system issues and supports the preparation of ad-hoc reports.
∙Prepares reports summarizing and forecasting company business activities and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations
∙Provides support to key personnel in the compilation of monthly financial forecasts, assists in budget preparation, reviews budget proposals, and prepares supporting documentation as directed.
∙Provides management with timely reviewed financial reports and progress in its various programs and activities
∙Prepares and allocates company credit card expenses.
∙Reviews transactions with the team and posts Year-End adjustments
∙Reconciles report discrepancies and problems
∙Other duties as assigned by Director of Finance
∙Prepares reports for Payroll, Vacation, sick accruals, related expenses, Healthcare Allocations.
∙Inventory closing and reporting
∙Capitalize fixed asset and depreciation
∙Update Cash forecasting file
∙Prepares other related internal financial closing reports
∙Report Sales and Use Tax
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications/Requirements:
EDUCATION:
∙Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university
EXPERIENCE:
∙0-2 years of related accounting experience
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
∙Knowledge:
∙Understanding of US GAAP.
∙Any finance system experience preferred
∙Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. (Intermediate level or above)
∙General Knowledge of office practice and accounting procedures
Skills:
∙Strong written and verbal communication skills needed to effectively communicate with Management, customers, vendors and colleagues
Abilities:
∙Speak and write effectively; prepare documents that are concise, (priority, high area of interest), and grammatically accurate; correctly apply policies, procedures, and regulations. Work effectively in a diverse community; maintain confidences, and confidentiality. Attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, is critical for the success of this position.
