About the Role:
SYSO Technologies is seeking a motivated candidate to join our Network Operations Center (NOC) in Boston, MA, through our Rotational Experience Program. This program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in multiple departments while working primarily as a Control Room Operator. Candidates will gain exposure to multiple departments within SYSO, providing a robust, practical foundation for a career in the renewable energy industry.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in renewable energy operations and be eager to learn, grow, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail, adherence to process, and effective escalation management are crucial.
This position requires flexibility to work in the Boston NOC on a rotating 24/7/365 shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Control Room Operator Overview:
As a Control Room Operator, you will be responsible for the real-time operation and performance optimization of SYSO’s renewable energy assets. Key tasks include running acceptance tests for new resources, implementing asset-level schedules, monitoring and troubleshooting system performance issues, communicating with grid operators, and tracking scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
Rotational Training Program Overview:
Our Control Room Operator position is designed in partnership with a rotational training program that allows you to gain a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to operate renewable energy assets. You will work on key projects within various business functions, including Energy Markets, Project Development, Lead Generation, Data Science, and Software Engineering to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to take on greater responsibilities within the SYSO and grow your career in the renewable energy industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support SYSO’s 24/7/365 control room, managing asset operating strategies to optimize performance, including wholesale market participation, capacity and ancillary market services, and incentive programs.
- Participate in market trainings and readiness tests to ensure the NOC is prepared to dispatch portfolios for key market events.
- Implement ad-hoc schedule changes and manage communications with grid operators during maintenance activities.
- Coordinate real-time communications with internal operational teams and external stakeholders.
- Monitor energy market conditions and respond to dynamic resource availability.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated client inquiries and system/device failures.
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance new site onboarding practices.
- Contributed to projects across various departments as part of the rotational program.
- Represent a team that strives for operational excellence and first-class customer service.
Required Qualifications/Skills/Education:
- BA/BS in a technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Successful track record in a process-oriented environment.
- Proven ability to autonomously troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues and communicate challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, technical procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and other procedure manuals.
- Must be highly disciplined, organized, and have exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work out of SYSO’s Boston office with flexibility for rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Desired Qualifications/Skills/Education:
- Experience in the electrical power industry, including transmission and distribution, centralized and distributed energy resources, energy management, and related technologies.
- Expertise in process improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with NERC CIP security standards.
