  • Participating in client and inventor interviews to define a clear understanding of the complexities surrounding new inventions.
  • Conducting comprehensive research in patent databases and non-patent literature to ensure the firm’s attorneys and legal practitioners have the necessary information to assess the legal viability and patentability of new inventions.
  • Drafting patent applications, including preparing detailed specifications and claims that describe the new inventions and provide support during the application process with the USPTO.
  • Assisting firm attorneys and legal practitioners in developing and drafting arguments in response to communications from the USPTO to secure patents.

Qualifications

  • Strong academic credentials including a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field of study.
  • Two or more years of applicable industry experience in engineering or a related capacity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to present findings in a professional and organized manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively prioritize while managing multiple deadlines and work requests.
  • Sound judgment, maturity, and the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of legal practitioners within the firm’s organization.
  • Eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration examination if not already registered.
