Stanford TAPS (Theatre and Performance Studies) is looking for someone interested in using their organizational skill set in an arts administration position. This is a hybrid on-site and remote role which offers flexibility and responsibility for self starting students. On-site work will be primarily in Memorial Auditorium Rm 132.

Time commitment: 7-15 hours per week, this role can also be split between two students

Shift time: Flexible: One shift minimum per week within Costume Shop Hours: 8:00am-12:00pm, 1:00pm-4:30pm

Pay: $20.20/hr

Duties and Responsibilities:

Show support: 80%

  • Act as the Costume Shop representative for production-related cast and crew communications with professionalism
  • Work with the Costume Shop, Costume Designer, Stage Manager and Production Team to support TAPS Productions
  • Communicate with cast to schedule measurements, fittings, and dressing room assignments
  • Track and generate show paperwork including measurement sheets, dressing lists, labels, costume plots, and quickchange plots
  • Maintains situational awareness, sensitivity, and confidentiality 
  • Organize costume racks and dressing rooms during costume load-in
  • Take diligent notes during fittings and measurement sessions
  • Attend occasional designer runs, production meetings, shop meetings, and dress rehearsals as availability allows

Shop organization: 10%

  • Assist with costume shop organization projects as needed

Student stitcher scheduling: 10%

  • Send outreach emails to potentially interested students
  • Compile student availability and generate a quarterly stitcher schedule in collaboration with with costume shop staff

Qualifications:

  • No formal work experience is required
  • Familiar with Google Sheets and/or Excel
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented 
  • Able to maintain, track, and pivot tasks as priorities shift or evolve, able to adapt to unique or shifting goals
  • Thrives in a busy and lively environment
  • Able to assertively communicate needs 
  • Comfortable being a proactive communicator with students, faculty, guest artists, and staff
  • Enjoys contributing to a process and is comfortable receiving and offering constructive feedback 
  • Technical theatre and/or computer skills a plus

Students will engage with personal biometric information. Situational awareness and sensitivity is required. Personal measurements, fitting information, and costume shop communications are confidential.
