Graduate Assistant – Central’s Applied Learning (CAL) Program/Work Integrated Learning

Position Summary:
The Graduate Assistant will support the development, planning, and organization of Central’s Applied Learning (CAL) Program and training sessions for interns and supervisors of on-campus student employees/interns. These trainings will focus on the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) career readiness competencies, with an emphasis on Professionalism, Teamwork, and Critical Thinking. The GA will work collaboratively with professional staff to ensure engaging, effective, and well-coordinated programming that strengthens supervisor capacity and enhances the student internship experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development, organization, and facilitation of interns and supervisor training workshops and presentations.
- Research and gather resources, best practices, and tools related to NACE competencies, specifically professionalism, teamwork, and critical thinking.
- Prepare training materials, handouts, slide decks, and evaluation forms.
- Coordinate logistics for training sessions, including scheduling, communications, registration, and follow-up.
- Track participation and maintain records of training attendance.
- Assist in assessing training effectiveness through surveys, feedback collection, and data reporting.
- Collaborate with staff on strategies to enhance supervisor engagement and promote consistent learning outcomes.
- Provide administrative support as needed for related projects.
- Work on special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Current graduate student in graduate programs such as Higher Education, Counseling, Human Resources, or related field].
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Interest in student development, career readiness, or training/educational program delivery.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with learning management systems or virtual training platforms a plus.
Time Commitment:
Expected weekly hours, 10–20 hours per week, depending on department needs.
Compensation:
$3,000 for 300 hours for the Spring semester. Position could start as early as December.
