Job Summary

The HR Coordinator reports to the HR Manager and plays a key role in building a workplace focused on equity and growth. From supporting day-to-day HR operations to promoting staff development through mentorship, training, and internships, this position helps make a meaningful impact on both staff and the broader library community. Key Responsibilities

Employee Talent Support

  • Assist with all stages of the employee lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding.
  • Support HR functions like talent acquisition, benefits administration, and HRIS maintenance.
  • Review and update job descriptions, policies, and procedures.
  • Help plan staff events that boost engagement and morale.

Inclusive Leadership & Equity Support

  • Embed inclusive practices across policies and employee programs.
  • Act as a resource for staff, offering guidance on equity-related concerns.
  • Collaborate with leadership and the IDEAA Committee to foster an inclusive culture.

Training & Professional Development

  • Coordinate staff training sessions.
  • Track learning needs and progress to support growth.

Mentorship & Internship Programs

  • Manage mentorship programs to support staff development.
  • Oversee internship programs and maintain partnerships with local schools and universities, including Haskell, KU, and ESU’s School of Library and Information Science, to create strong talent pipelines.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in HR, training, or similar areas.
  • Strong organizational skills, stellar work ethic, and a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and spoken.
  • A data-driven approach to developing and evaluating programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
  • DEI certification or experience.
  • Experience with mentoring or internship coordination.
  • Familiarity with public libraries or nonprofits.

Position Details

  • Hours: 40 hours per week, full-time, non-exempt
  • Pay: $28.02 per hour
