B2B Public Relations Internship -- Winter/Spring 2026

Greentarget is a strategic public relations firm focused exclusively on business to business organizations. We help leading law firms, consultancies, and other professional services companies share their ideas and expertise in ways that earn trust and shape important conversations. Our work includes media relations, research, content creation, digital strategy, and crisis communications, giving our intern team opportunities to learn, grow, and make an impact alongside some of the most respected professionals in their fields.

About the Internship

More than half of our client-facing staff came to Greentarget as interns, including several members of our senior leadership team. That means we’ve always viewed our internship program as our most powerful recruiting and hiring tool – it allows young professionals to experience our culture and lets us see what they can do.

Greentarget’s Chicago office in the historic Chicago Board of Trade building hosts between three and six interns at a time. From day one, you will work on real client projects that help you build the skills needed to succeed in public relations. Interns work closely with every member of the team, from associates to senior leadership, and have the opportunity to contribute across all of the firm’s accounts in industries such as energy, healthcare, US policy / regulation, automotive, and technology.

At Greentarget, no two days are exactly the same. During the internship, you will:

  • Draft press releases for client announcements
  • Create media lists focused on key topics and industries
  • Write tailored media pitches to promote client thought leadership and events
  • Call and email reporters from trade, national, and broadcast outlets
  • Conduct research ranging from industry reports to new business materials and competitor audits
  • Participate in client calls, training sessions, and professional development programs

Because we trust interns with meaningful responsibilities, we look for the same qualities we value across our entire team: curiosity, strong writing and communication skills, attention to detail, and the confidence to share ideas.

PR Campaign Project

To showcase the skills you learn throughout your internship, you will also create a hypothetical PR campaign built from the ground-up. You will choose an organization of your choice – anything from a small-town coffee shop to a national financial institution – and create a campaign to support your ‘client’ throughout your internship. You will meet with members of our various service teams, including content, research and digital, to brainstorm ideas and strategies for your campaign. At the end of the internship, you will present your project to the Greentarget team and can add the effort to your portfolio.

Timeframe

We are currently accepting applications for our Winter/Spring 2026 Cohort, which will begin on Tuesday, January 6th, 2026.

  • Three months minimum commitment: Official end date on Thursday, April 9th, with a likely extension to Thursday, May 21st.
  • Full-time position: Monday – Friday, 9am-5 pm CT
  • We are currently operating a hybrid work model and require interns to work from the office three days a week between Monday and Thursday; all employees WFH on Fridays.
  • $20 hourly pay

Qualifications

Our internship regularly involves writing and speaking on the phone, so it’s critical that interns are comfortable doing both. Due to the fast-paced nature of PR, attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management are keys to success and growth. Our highest performing interns have a natural intellectual curiosity, strong communication skills, and aren’t afraid to stretch themselves and “fail forward.”

  • College Junior, Senior, or Post-Graduate Level
  • Diversity of majors and degrees is encouraged
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • A willingness to dive into new or unfamiliar topics
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Why Us?

At Greentarget, interns aren’t just observers — you’re part of the team. You’ll jump into training sessions, join happy hours, holiday parties, and summer outings, and get real experience that builds confidence and sharpens your PR skills.

We want this internship to leave a lasting mark on your career by preparing you for whatever comes next. Nearly all of our Junior Associates started as interns, and many have gone on to build long-term careers here, now serving in senior leadership roles. If you’re curious, motivated, and excited to learn, this is your chance to see what makes Greentarget’s approach to PR unique.
