As a working foreman, the Weatherization Crew Supervisor determines and oversees the weatherization techniques implemented at each worksite.  Through experience and technical skills, the Crew Supervisor will ensure high quality workmanship and production.  This position requires a one-on-one working relationship with program customers and is essential to the agency's public image through strong interpersonal and communication skills. The starting wage for the Weatherization Crew Supervisor is $25.00 to $27.00 per hour. 

Essential Functions:

  • Effective supervision of crew members including the assigning of specific weatherization tasks. 
  • Responsible for the safety of crew members through the enforcement of work and safety rules and safety inspection of tools and equipment. 
  • Observe crew members weatherization and carpentry techniques and provide training as needed to guarantee quality workmanship and safe working procedures. 
  • Perform accurate air infiltration tests by use of the Minnesota Blower Door. 
  • Determine additional weatherization measures needed and implement appropriate procedures for accomplishing these and all other weatherization tasks assigned. 
  • Ensure the timely completion of weatherization and construction tasks as assigned to the crew and the compliance with State application standards. 
  • Coordinate scheduling of weatherization work with client. 
  • Responsible for directing the use of tools to evaluate and perform weatherization measures on existing housing structures; insulating attics and sidewalls; replacement of doors and windows in existing openings or any other measures identified. 
  • Maintain accurate records including materials installed per job, materials returned, damages, hours spent per job and other pertinent record keeping duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 or more years’ experience in weatherization work, or construction management or an associate degree in construction management 
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills 
  • Supervisory experience 

EQUIPMENT SKILLS:   

  • Must be knowledgeable in the operation of, but not limited to, the Minnesota Blower Door, insulation blowing machines, circular saws, cut saws, routers, drills and other job-related power and hand tools. 

Licenses, Certifications, and Authorizations Required:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have an insured vehicle.
  • Must meet Western Dairyland’s insurability requirements.
  • Lead Safe Weatherization Worker certification. (Can obtain after hire)
  • Asbestos Operations and Maintenance or Asbestos Supervisor certification (Can obtain after hire)

Work Environment: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions.  The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high precarious places.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. 
  • Work schedule will primarily be Monday through Thursday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM;  Work week is 36 hours.
