Nonprofit Communications & Development Assistant

Seeds of Charity is a new nonprofit based in East Tennessee, dedicated to “planting small seeds of kindness” that grow into life-changing acts for families in need. We provide assistance, resources, and hope to individuals facing hardships, with a heart for serving those impacted by cancer and other challenges.

 

 

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated Communications & Development Assistant to join our team. This is a part-time paid role (10–20 hours per week), ideal for a college student, graduate student, or recent graduate who wants real-world nonprofit experience.

 

You will work directly with the President of Seeds of Charity, helping manage day-to-day communications, donor relations, and organizational tasks. This is a catch-all role with room to grow, perfect for someone eager to take initiative, learn, and contribute to a meaningful cause.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

Manage and schedule social media posts (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)

Create basic graphics, flyers, and updates (using Canva or similar tools)

Assist with donor communications: emails, thank-you letters, newsletters

Update and maintain the website with news, events, and resources

Draft letters, respond to inquiries, and assist with applicant communications

Provide administrative support for events, fundraisers, and silent auctions

Conduct grant research and assist with basic grant application preparation

Other nonprofit support tasks as assigned

 

Qualifications

Current student or recent graduate (communications, public relations, nonprofit management, marketing, social work, or related field preferred)

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Comfort with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)

Experience with Canva, Google Workspace, or WordPress is a plus (training available)

Detail-oriented, organized, and reliable

Passion for nonprofit work and helping others

 

Benefits

$10-15/hr depending on experience
