Graduate Research Assistant
A part-time position (20-hours per week) is available for a doctoral level Graduate Research Assistant to support a newly funded NIH R01 clinical trial adapting an exercise intervention for Hispanic adults with multiple sclerosis. Masters level candidates will be considered if there is an expectational match with skills and availability. The position is in the Department of Management, Policy, and Community Health at the School of Public Health. The position will focus on assisting day to day research activities of this grant funded position (3.5 years of funding with 9 credits of tuition support provided for Fall and Spring semesters). These will include, assisting with community advisory board meetings, adaptation of study materials, administering questionnaires interview-style over the phone/Zoom, creating community-facing dissemination materials, and other duties as assigned.
Specific Duties Include:
- Assist the study research coordinator and study team with the day-to-day operation of the project
- Administering validated questionnaires interview-style at baseline, 16-weeks, and 32-weeks with all study participants
- Assist with recruitment, outreach, and consenting of study participants
- Maintain organization of study materials and assisting with finalizing culturally adapted materials
- Participate in virtual community advisory board. Transcribing and Analyzing the responses.
- Participating in team meetings on research projects and present work to the research teams.
- Assist with preparation with manuscripts and conference presentations as appropriate.
- Lead the creation of community-facing dissemination materials.
Applicant Must:
- Be currently enrolled in the UTHealth-Houston PhD, or DrPH Program
- Experience working with Human Subjects Protocols and Internal Review Boards
- Complete or already have completed CITI Human Subjects Training
- Be able to meet project deadlines and maintain multiple project organization.
- Be well organized and efficiently and effectively execute project deliverables.
- Fluency in Spanish (written and spoken) is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience conducting clinical trials research
- Experienced with rehabilitation and/or health promotion research
- Experience working with community-based research and study participant recruitment

Reporting:
- Position reports to Stephanie Silveira, PhD
- The GRA will work closely with the multi-institution study team and work directly under the study research coordinator
