Civil Engineer - Utility Infrastructure, Entry Level

Come work with senior-level professionals at an established A/E firm that value employee input and collaboration. Burgess & Niple is looking for a Civil Engineer - Utility Infrastructure, Entry Level to join our team in Columbus.

B&N Civil Engineer Responsibilities

  • Opportunity to review technical reports from utilities, learn about their business processes, and help identify opportunities to evolve and improve them
  • Use large data sets and optimization methods to support data-driven decision making for utility projects
  • Perform data analysis and support the communication of data, including technical writing and the preparation of maps, figures, tables, and other visual aids 
  • Learn and perform field work, such as guided assessment of the condition and security of water and wastewater facilities, guided by our pre-built inspection software
  • Participate in delivering projects related to all aspects of water/wastewater treatment and water distribution systems
  • Utilize GIS, PowerBI, and AI Technology 
  • Gain exposure to the business aspects of utilities 
  • Collaborate with a team of EITs and PEs assisting with utility infrastructure planning

 Skills & Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • Passed FE or have obtained EIT or EI with a desire to become a PE
  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Excellent communication skills to make an impact on projects for our clients in the public or private sector
  • Some experience in building databases and working with data analytics packages (e.g. GIS, PowerBI) is preferred but not required.
