Human Services Outreach Worker – Human Services Department
The Opportunity
The Town of Mansfield, Connecticut (www.mansfieldct.gov) is seeking an Outreach Worker for its Human Services Department. This position plays an important role in supporting the mission of the Human Services Department by conducting outreach to vulnerable populations, coordinating programming, and connecting residents to community resources. This position is responsible for supporting service delivery both in the office and within the community, to include home visits and other outreach opportunities. This position will primarily support veterans, adults, older adults, and individuals with disabilities.

The Department provides both a breadth and depth of services to our community including Youth Services, Senior Services, and direct social work services.
Mansfield, with a population of approximately 26,000, is located in beautiful northeastern Connecticut. Home to the University of Connecticut and located less than an hour from Hartford and Providence, Mansfield offers a unique blend of urban (Downtown Storrs - www.mansfieldmdp.org), suburban, and rural living in a vibrant university setting. Mansfield has a variety of cultural and educational offerings, numerous food and entertainment venues, as well as an abundance of natural resources ideal for activities such as hiking, cycling, and kayaking. Mansfield has adopted a Council-Manager form of government, with the Town Manager serving as the Chief Executive Officer responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Town.
Work Schedule & Location
This position is 19 hours per week. This position will normally work Tuesdays and Wednesdays 10:45am – 5:15pm and Thursdays 11am – 6:30pm.
The work location is the Human Services Offices/Senior Center, 303 Maple Road, Mansfield, CT 06268.
Compensation
The hourly pay range is $29.81/hr. - $37.90/hr. The hiring rate of pay will depend upon the selected candidate's qualification and experience. Part-time, non-benefits eligible employees working for the Town of Mansfield are required to participate in a social security alternative plan which is a 457 tax deferred compensation plan. This position is also eligible to accrue and use sick leave through the Connecticut Paid Sick Leave law. Outside of the tax-deferred compensation plan and paid sick leave, there are no additional employer paid benefits with this position.
Training and Experience
An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field is required. A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work (BSW) or a related field is preferred. Experience working with adults and veterans in a similar setting is desired. Consideration may be given to equivalent experience, education, and training.
Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate public service driver's license valid in the State of Connecticut within six months of employment. Must have a valid Connecticut driver's license. Possession of or the ability to obtain Food Safety Certificate within six months of employment. Possession of CPR and first aid certifications highly desired.
